About

Raised in the cultural epicenter of New York City, I took a keen interest into the arts. Fashion, sketching, painting and sculpting were amongst a few. Moving to Hawaii furthered my pursuits in the art field. Engaging in the science of color theory at leading Honolulu salons developed my skills in enhancement and corrective coloring.

My work was noticed by prominent vogue recruiters from South Korea and I took the opportunity to immerse myself in the world of high fashion in Seoul, Korea just as the country began its ascent as the mecca in all matters pertaining to beauty from aesthetics to personal care.

I worked as lead hair and makeup in K dramas, wrote style editorials and coordinated fashion shows. During my spare time I studied cosmetic tattooing in Gangnam, Seoul. The endeavor fused all my interests into one field and suddenly, my ardent passion for cosmetic tattooing was born.

I returned to Hawaii with an eager enthusiasm to share my techniques and innovative experience. I opened Etch Salon, the first studio in Honolulu specializing in cosmetic tattoos. The success that followed led me to rebrand as Edit, specializing in freehand corrective tattoos and enhancement.

Mission

My aim is to leave an indelible mark, pun intended, that goes beyond enhancing the aesthetic appearance of my clients. I believe sophisticate beauty resides within and my commitment is to convey that allure through my artful techniques. Feeling radiant from within and exuding confidence is what defines true beauty and it is my wholehearted commitment that all my clients leave with a buoyant glow.

Belief

  • Premise

    Free hand vs Brow mapping

Freehand brow shaping is an artistic technique that relies on an innate visual composition and steady hand. In contrast to mapping, freehand allows for a more subjective approach while highlighting and enhancing our natural features and face shape. Free hand allows me to tailor my approach to create a timeless and unique look for each client.

Free hand is a rare art form seldom seen today. It avoids the exacting methods of brow mapping and duplicating brows which is counterintuitive to achieving a soft natural look. Carbon copied brows distort the natural facial asymmetry making the imbalance more pronounced.

  • Problem

Everyone’s face is naturally asymmetrical. By default, facial features such as brows, eyes and lips are misaligned. The pervasive thought is that the best method to correct for the imbalance is through facial mapping, a method which entails drawing grids and markings in an attempt to be exact. This cookie cutter approach compounds the asymmetrical features.

  • Proof

The foundation of my work blends the golden ratio of facial features to space. This ratio creates a tailored approach to properly shaping our natural frame, the brows. The majority of my work centers on corrective shaping and color correction of the brows.

Trusted by prominent figures, including local and international celebrities, my work has silently been showcased in public.  Referrals drive the business and my success is measured by clients that routinely trust me to maintain and enhance their beauty.  I am eternally grateful for the continual trust bestowed upon me.

Advanced Techniques

Work

  • A close-up of an eye with a perfectly shaped ombre brow, featuring a gradient effect from light to dark for a soft, powdered finish.

    Ombre

Ombre dimensional brows is a technique that strategically pixelates micro dots giving a gradient appearance with the color more pronounced and distinct at the brow’s tail gradually becoming muted and subtle. The healed result give the brows a soft powdered look. This technique is suitable for all skin types and largely pain free.

Brows will be dark for a week and a scab will naturally form. After which, the color will begin to intensify and deepen to the desired target shade within 3 weeks.

  • A close-up of an eye showcasing powder brows, with an evenly shaded brow that creates a soft and glamorous appearance.

    Powder

Powder or feathering, in contrast to Ombre, is an even application of pixelated pigment throughout the brow, giving a soft and glam appearance. This type is appropriate for all shapes and skin types and also relatively pain free.

  • A close-up of an eye highlighting nanoblading, where fine hair-like strokes mimic natural brow hairs for a realistic and defined look.

    Nanoblading

Nanoblading is a technique that creates the appearance of hair by delicately creating hair like strokes providing incredible dimension and detail.

This type of artistry is ideal for those with little brow hair and suitable for all skin types.

  • A close-up of an eye demonstrating hybrid brows, a combination of hairstroke and powder techniques for enhanced depth and dimension.

    Hybrid

Hybrid brow is a coloring technique that blends together hairstrokes and powder techniques creating added depth and dimension. Hybrid brows are suitable for most and the expected heal time is 3 weeks.

Modern Modalities

Rotary Machine

Vast improvements made in the rotary machine enable consistent results by gently applying a steady tap allowing for finer detail and improved ink retention. Operator error is greatly reduced and the results are clean lines and significantly less time in the chair. Rotary machines also facilitate quicker healing times.

Improved Inks

Advancements in premium inks allow for greater flexibility in color and hue. The impermanence of the dye allows for color and shape correction. The premium ink I use is vegan certified and well documented for its established safety and efficacy.

Nano Needles / Needle Cartridges

Ultra fine needles allow for more precise and delicate work needed in fine line cosmetic tattooing. They contribute to less trauma to the skin reducing discomfort and healing time.

Specialized coatings minimize friction leading to a smoother application and reduced skin irritation.

Advancements in needle cartridges have become increasingly sophisticated enhancing stability, control and ink flow. Cartridges are now designed to minimize the risk of backflow and cross contamination.

Highlights

Aftercare

  • Wet Healing for dry skin:

    • After a few hours, wipe off any lymph buildup with a clean, damp cotton pad or tissue.

    • Apply the provided salve prior to showering for 7 days. The ointment serves as a protective barrier limiting the brows from external moisture. While showering do not place your face directly under the showerhead. Cleanse around the brows.

    • A scab will naturally form in 2-3 days. Refrain from picking or scratching the scab as this can cause patchy results, scarring and pigment loss. As the scabs fall you may apply makeup to blend in the patchy brows.

    • Be gentle when removing the makeup, not to disturb the remaining scabs.

    • Refrain from heat and moisture.

    • Refrain from applying hair products during the healing process to prevent potential infection.

    • Pigment underneath will appear very light. Do not be alarmed by this.

    • It is normal to feel a slight itch. After the scab has fallen off entirely, you may resume your daily activities as normal.

    • Target color will gradually appear in 2 weeks. Full results visible in 3-4 weeks.

    Dry Healing for oily skin

    • After 1-2 hours, remove the initial lymph buildup with a clean, damp cotton pad or tissue.

    • Avoid any contact with moisture. If the brows get wet, blot or pat dry with tissue or cotton pad.

    Things to avoid:

✕ Do not pick, scratch, or peel the scab.

✕ Do not sleep on your face.

✕ No long hot steaming showers for the week. Keep it short and sweet.

    ✕ No direct sun exposure.

✕ No saunas, swimming, steamrooms, facials, hot yoga, any arduous activities that will cause you to perspire.

✕ Do not submerge your head underwater.

    • Dry healing, no salve needed to the area.

    • Slight swelling, tightness and tenderness may occur.

    • Avoid water in eye area for 2 days.

    • Refrain from touching or rubbing eyes.

    • Upon waking, lashes may be stuck together. Gently moisten the lashes with a cotton swab and work the lashes apart. Refrain from touching the skin during this process.

    • Use cotton swab to gently cleanse any discharge or debris.

    Things to avoid:

✕ No mascara or makeup on the eyes until scabs fall off.

✕ Avoid retinol, glycolic acid, and exfoliants near the eyes.

  • The first 2 days:

    • Cut food into small bite sized pieces.

    • Apply a generous amount of lip balm prior to eating as a protective barrier from food particles.

    • Post meal, wipe off the excess balm and reapply a fresh layer.

    • Drink beverages with a straw.

    • Constantly keep lips moist by consistently applying balm.

    • Apply a generous amount of lip balm before brushing teeth. After rinsing, gently wipe off balm and reapply a fresh layer.

    Things to avoid:

✕ No spicy or citrus foods.

    ✕ No kissing.

✕ Avoid opening mouth wide to prevent cracking.

Note: Proper aftercare is critical for the longevity and appearance of your brow treatment. Please carefully follow the instructions provided to avoid unnecessary touch ups. Avoid operating any machinery or heavy equipment during the healing process as Edit will not be held liable for any mishaps.
